This project examined drug shortages in Montenegro for the first time, relying on the broader European framework of the four-year COST Action CA 15105 entitled "European Medicines Shortages Research Network - Addressing Supply Problems to Patients" (2016-2020) in which Montenegro participates from the very beginning. A qualitative methodological approach was applied, as well as a prospective monitoring of drug shortages over a one-year period. The results of the project showed the perception of the dynamics of drug shortages by various factors in the supply chain (manufacturers, regulators, distributors and pharmacists), their view of the causes of drug shortages, knowledge of legal and organizational regulations in this area, assessment of supply chain communication and proposals to optimize the existing situation.
